Abstract

Background: professionals and services are linked to practices of a previous model, with a biopsychosocial health approach and applied to the development of community health.
Aim: To describe the perceptions on the role of nursing professionals in the activities they develop within the family, community and individual settings.
Methods: An observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective, descriptive study was carried out. A total of 110 units of analysis were included, selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. A survey was used as a data collection technique to evaluate the impact of nursing personnel in primary health care.
Results: In the family setting, 20.9% responded "always", in which the staff provides educational sessions (talks) within the home, especially in relation to the usefulness of the educational sessions given by the nursing professional, which have managed to generate changes within the family. At the individual level, 33.6% reported "always" regarding participation in follow-up activities, control and surveillance of the patient in charge. At the community level, 31.8 % of the responses "always" allowed observing the participation of the nursing staff in vaccination programs.
Conclusions: It can be concluded that the nursing professional focused on primary health care does not have a specific role, but underlies in helping several areas related to the individual, family and community.
