Abstract

Open science denotes a set of associated practices and ideas, such as accessibility, reproducibility, (data) sharing and collaboration. Revista Salud, Ciencia y Tecnología, despite being a young journal, has aligned itself to these two initiatives that mark a substantial step as open access journals and Crossref members: open abstracts and open citations. The Initiative for Open Abstracts (I4OA) is a collaboration between academic publishers, infrastructure organizations, librarians, researchers and other stakeholders to advocate and promote the unrestricted availability of abstracts from the world's scholarly publications. On the other hand, the Open Citations Initiative (I4OC) is a collaboration between academic publishers, researchers and other stakeholders to promote the unrestricted availability of structured, separable and open scholarly citation data. Although standardizing and ensuring the quality of article metadata is a time-consuming and exhaustive task, we feel highly committed to ensuring that the journal grows not only in the number of articles published but also in editorial standards, which will undoubtedly allow us to increase our visibility and position ourselves in international bibliographic databases.
