Abstract

The main aim of this document is to contribute to improve the professional development of infection control nurses (ICN) and to be a standard for the certification and recertification of these professionals. In Argentina, until now, ICNs do not have a uniform academic training at national level. A framework of reference was outlined to measure or assess infection control professionals. These standards are intended to be used by the Higher Certification Committee (CSDC) of the Argentine Association of Infection Control Nurses (ADECI), the institutions that require a trained human resource, the ICUs that wish to position their role and the Secretariats and/or Ministries of Health of the Argentine provinces.
